8.5 magnitude(revised 7.8) earthquake hit Southeast of Japan, Bonin Island region.

 

A very large 8.5 magnitude(revised 7.8) earthquake has struck Southeast of mainland Japan in the Bonin Island region.

This earthquake occurred at a depth of 696km / 432 miles, which falls deep into the Asthenosphere below the Pacific plate which is 1,000 kilometers (621 miles) southeast of Tokyo, causing tremors in Japan’s capital

The earthquake, which was centered off Japan’s Ogasawara islands, struck at 8:24 p.m. local time at a depth of 590 kilometers, according to Japan’s Meteorological Agency, which gave a preliminary magnitude reading of 8.5.

The earthquake follows the eruption of a volcano off southern Japan yesterday, which forced the evacuation of about 140 people.

Worthy to note that an earthquake forecast was issued for Japan YESTERDAY, giving full warning of a very large event coming this week.

Warning issued yesterday, 8.5M strikes today.

No Tsunami warning was issued yet.
